Projected Title Winners and Polls

The projected title winner for the NHL are either the Pittsburgh Penguins or the Chicago Blackhawks. The Pittsburgh Penguins finished the season with 36 wins, 12 losses, and 0 overtime losses. The only team to have 0 overtime losses out of all 30 teams in 48 games. The Penguins are tied 2-2 in a series with the New York Islanders. The Chicago Blackhawks finished with 36 wins, 7 losses, and 5 overtime losses. They had a 26 game point streak. The Blackhawks are winning the series 3-1 against the Minnesota Wild. All games are in the first round except the San Jose Sharks and the Vancouver Canucks. The Sharks swept the Canucks 4-0. The first series to be over in 2013. All series in the first round have been completed. Sharks beat Canucks 4-0, Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Islanders 4-2, Rangers beat the Caps 4-3, Red Wings beat Ducks 4-3, Bruins beat Leafs 4-3, Kings beat Blues 4-2, Senators beat Habs (Canadiens) 4-3, Blackhawks beat Wild 4-1.

The projected title winner for the NBA are either the Miami Heat or the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Miami Heat won their first series by beating The Milwaukee Bucks in 4 games too none. The star player on the Heat, LeBron James won the MVP award during that season. They moved on to the Chicago Bulls in the second Round and lost the first game but, tied up the second game. They finished the Bulls off in 5 games and now moved on to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Houston Rockets in the first round in 4 games too 2. They moved on to the Memphis Grizzles and the series is now over and the Memphis Grizzles beat the Thunder in 5 games. The Indiana Pacers are beating the New York Knicks 3 games to 1. The Golden State Warriors are in a tight series with San Antonio Spurs and they are loosing too them 3 to 2.

The projected title winner for the MLB are either the San Francisco Giants or the Texas Rangers.
The Giants have won the World Series last year giving them an advantage for popularity, and are racking up wins at Home. Their record for Away has not been doing that good this season with more losses than wins. The Texas Rangers (so far) are the best in the west. With more wins at Home and Away the Rangers have the second highest percentage in the league.

An Evening of the Arts

An Evening of the Arts by David Bondi
This years spring concert will begin at 6:15 pm on May 9th. It will start of with the strings portion of the concert. Next will be the JK-3rd grade chorus and will move on to the second and third grade skit. Concert band begin right after. The Lancer band will soon join in with the Concert band for The National Anthem. The Concert band will go off the stage for the Lancer band portion. The Academy Chorus and Academy singers will then continue the concert. Be sure to come to the concert.

New monopoly piece

The makers of the classic family game, Monopoly have made a new game piece: the cat. The cat is a replacement for the iron. The iron was the most disliked piece so they switched it out for the cat. The cat piece will come out in every regular version of Monopoly starting in the summer. The cat will be colored gold for the first couple weeks.

SEA Bunco Night

BUNCO NIGHT 2013 JANUARY 26th!!! Be sure to come to the event. In case you don’t know the rules, here is how to play. Bunco is played in rounds usually in teams of 2. So each table has 2 teams of two at it.
The Head Table controls the starting and stopping of each round. When a team at the head table gets to 21 points or gets a “Bunco” play stops. Points are tallied and seats are changed. Here is how it works
Play begins. The first round is the “ones” round, the second round is the “twos” and so on. The first person at each table rolls the three dice, looking to roll 1 or more of whichever round they are on. (So if it is round one, you want to roll a one or if you roll 3 ones, you start jumping for joy and yelling BUNCO!)
The person rolling the dice at each table keeps rolling as long as at least one of the dice gets the number they are looking for. The rollers team mate puts a check mark next to each correct number rolled, giving a point. (So if you are on ‘ones’ you get 1 point every time you roll a one. You get 21 points for rolling 3 ones or “bunco”.)
Five points are awarded if three of the same number are rolled that are not the same number as the round you are on. (So if you get three “twos” but are playing round four, you get 5 points. You would have gotten 21 point if you were on round two…)
When the person rolling doesn’t get the number for the round being played, they pass the dice to the left and the next team gets to roll for points.
Play stops when a team at the Head Table reaches 21. The head table rings the bell to let everyone know to stop rolling. (and because it’s more polite and more fun than to just yell, “everyone stop!”)
Now each team at each table adds up their points and figures out which team has won and which has lost. Each member of the team marks their card with a “W” for a win or “L” for a loss. Keep track of your individual buncos as well. The “Print Your Own Bunco” score sheets are set up for four rounds of 1 through 6 with extra space for tally marks or adding more rounds if desired.

At the end of each round, the two winners from each table move up a table (towards the head table) and the losers stay put. New teams are formed (you don’t stay with the same partner from round to round) and now you have new people to chat and roll with.
At the end of the night, the Buncos, Wins & Losses are added up and the number recorded on the line next to your name. The hostess than takes all the score sheets and determines who wins the prizes. Prizes are often awarded for “Most Buncos”, “Most Wins” and “Most Losses” but again, it’s your party so your group can give out prizes for “Best Shoes” too if you want. Be sure to be there.

Carlos Ruiz Suspended

After a rough season for the Phillies they continue to go down hill for the 2012-2013 season. Starting catcher Carlos Ruiz, all star player, and Phillies favorite is suspended for the first twenty five games because his test came up positive for Adderall. This a prescribed drug to treat attention deficit disorder. Many kids in schools use the drug to pay attention during school to improve grades. Many students need it to pay attention and this dug is the only way for them to pay attention. There are many side affects to the drug and others abuse. Carlos Ruiz has been punished for his abuse of the drug. Carlos will serve the punishment and is looking for to the field later.

Power ball lottery

Recently there was an announcement on one of the biggest jackpots in lottery history. The Power ball recently announced that the winnings were 579 million. The odds of you winning in this specific lottery was 1 in 750,000. The states that had citizens who won were Arizona and Missouri. The winning numbers were 5 23 16 22 29 6. In order to win the Power ball you have to get all of the numbers right including the Power ball number, in this case the Power ball number was 6. This means that you have to guess correctly 6 times in order to win. It did not beat the US record payout of 656 million that was set in the Mega Millions jackpot, but it beat the Power ball record. Personally if we win, we’re going to Vegas and hitting the slots.

Halo 4

Halo is one of the most played games on XBOX and the creators have just released their new content in HALO 4. Bungie is no longer behind HALO, now 343 Industries is in charge of HALO. HALO 4 marks the beginning on a new trilogy. The events take place after HALO 3 not HALO Reach. HALO 4 introduces a new race of deadlier aliens to face in battle. HALO 4 has ten different maps to play multiplayer and split screen on XBOX live. The new HALO game has new upgrades to your character on XBOX live. In this new game you can Creat your own maps on split screen and XBOX live.
